Service not bad. Food not bad.

Very nice dinner of the yellowtail Tuna (VERY generous portions, bordering on massive), nicely blackened and properly cooked to order, with grilled veggies and "loaded) potatoes (hold the sour cream, thank you for that!). My wife had the Taco salad and as always I stole a crispy corner of the "bowl". Salsa was nice and tangy and corn chips were fresh and not soaked through and saggy. Quick, friendly service (as per usual), casual beach attire welcome, quiet enough inside to have a conversation and the food was an unexpected DEAL through the early bird special (pure luck on our part). The menu is large and diverse. Worth a look for sure. We left well fed and pleased again with Dean's good food and service. I'd recommend to a friend anytime either "townies" like us or touristas. Thanks for a nice meal at a great price. Elaine

Went here for late night snack after a long day of driving. They had live music 80s cover band. Pretty decent. Food was served till 11. So we rushed to

Tacos are EHHH , chimichangas taste like NADA , server in the twilight zone NOT PAYING ATTENTION, prices are ok and the place looks great. Nice music. Overall, It's a good place to drink but not to eat. FYI I started this review as soon as we finished eating, we still waiting for the server to come get the card so we can GTFO...

Great nachos. Cold beer. Food... Got chorizo tacos. Told it was chorizo sausage. Nope. I got three tacos with about two tablespoons of chorizo seasoning per taco. Salty as heck. Not palatable. Third and final try.

Dean's is an interesting place. First time I was there the police were called because two inebriated patrons were having an argument over whether a certain part of a certain person's body were real. My next visit I was entertained by folks who kept using the restroom and coming out wiping their noses. Hmmm...If you want loud, rowdy, rough and tumble this is the place. All types visit and all types are welcome. I guess that's why this mild and meek lady feels comfortable here. The service has always been attentive and the food authentic and above average. There's a very nice outdoor bar/dining area which even on muggy days is comfortable due to the open breezeway and fans. I recommend Dean's for both the food and atmosphere. KQ

Food was ok, nothing special. Aside from the rude hostess everyone else was friendly. Chips and salsa aren't free and aren't that great. My husband enjoyed his prime rib sandwich.

Had a great Tex-Mex meal the other night at Dean's! I expected the place to be rather loud because the bar (which you pass through to get to the main door) was hopping and the noise level was high, but the dining room, though busy, wasn't terribly noisy, even with several televisions over the bar. Despite having "South of the Border" in their name, Dean's menu is not limited to Mexican food. In fact, the Mexican food only takes up about half of the offerings; you can also get burgers, steak, wings and other stuff, and they serve breakfast daily! The three of us diners all picked off the Mexican part of the menu. My parents each had enchildas, which were HUGE; neither of them (with different appetites) could finish. Mom just got one, Dad two. With the sides it's a load. I had steak fajitas, probably the best I had ever had (and I lived in TX for two decades). The meat was wonderfully seared outside but perfectly pink within, served on a hot skillet atop a mound of grilled onion (white and red) and bell peppers (red and green). Let me not forget to mention their QUESO!! Lovely white cheese with a pleasantly drippy consistency (no so runny as to be straight-up liquefied, but not stodgy and lump-laden) made for the best queso I have had in some time!! Joe, our server, was attentive and efficient. Top it off that this was an incredibly affordable meal (dinner for 3 + cocktails was no more than $50). Overall, this was a great dining experience and I would definitely return. Next time you're hungry for Tex-Mex, make a run for the border!

Unlimited Tacos Tuesday $10 tasted good. It's a texmex and raw bar mixed into one. Beer selection ok. Huge outdoor seating.

Drinks are good, prices are good, food is good, and live music all the time. Definitely, one of the best (if not THE best) places for nightlife in the area. And if the band of the night is, "Remedy", then go...just go! They're awesome.

We had breakfast here this morning. I had Brenda's famous sausage gravy with biscuits have serving because that's plenty for me. Brenda actually waited on us but she does not cook the restaurant is using her family recipe for sausage gravy. It has a bit of spice to it but it is so good and you could actually see pieces of sausage in it. For those of you who don't know it's a great place for breakfast. The prices are reasonable the food is good you can get on Southwest wraps for breakfast you can get eggs and bacon or as I had sausage gravy and biscuits. Give it a try next time you're in the area I would come back in a heartbeat.

We came here on a Monday and was pleased to see that it was open. No Bloody Mary bar. Only on weekends. I liked their variation of the corned beef hash. Corned beef was chunky and not small-diced like other places. Item to note - the outside seating near the road is pretty loud. Staff was friendly and accommodating.

I just ate one of the best breakfast burrito's that I've ever had. It had eggs, sausage, potato and cheese. It was stuffed so full I thought it would burst, but it stayed together until the end. The eggs and potatoes were cooked very well and the cheese was evenly distributed throughout, so every bite had a bit of melted cheese in it. They had really good orange juice and sweet tea, which is important to me personally. Friendly service and good food made the overall experience very enjoyable. I will be stopping in here whenever I am in town from now on.

Wonderful place on a Sunday afternoon. Hungry and hot, stopped with friends who raved about it, and I agree. Having lived in the area for over 35 years, this is the kind of place I love to go to. Outside, big fans, cold beer, and great fried and crispy food with lots of cheese:-) Might I say Nirvana? Lots of locals, which in itself means good prices. There was a good selection of beer, and the menu definitely includes lots of tex mex, from fried jalapenos and pickles to crunchy pulled pork quesadilla...of which all were wonderful. Everything hot, crunchy and servers on the ball. Can't wait to return for more.

  • Rachel K.

Service is the main problem here. Food is cheap and beer is generally cold if you can get someone to serve you. Wait staff more interested in personal conversations than waiting on customers. Not only that they are sitting clanging silverware at the bar, very loud and annoying.

Really enjoyed our visit here a while ago. Stopped in one evening when we were in downtown PG couldn't decide where to eat. Hadn't been here in quite some time. We sat at the patio bar and had drinks and food. Good pour of house wine. Food was tasty and the servers didn't even bat eye at special requests (no onions, we are particular about sauces, etc.). Tacos and quesadillas hit the spot. It's not fine dining, but it was very good. The place was packed and there was a musician, Steve from "Double Shot." This crowd was really into it and it made the place quite lively. We had a very nice time and we will be back--with or without the music.

We like Dean's. Food is consistent and wait staff is very friendly. Dinner tonight was 1 draft beer, chop steak and a couple of tacos for $17. Such a deal! We like sitting outside but it does run along 41 so it can be a bit noisy.

    (4)
  • Robert G.

We had lunch there today and really enjoyed it. Good $4 house margaritas and "mini" taco salad for $6.25. The service by Nikki was very good. The only downside was cigarette smoke as mentioned by others.

  • B G.

I stayed at the Wyvern next door. The guacamole was average. The salsa we asked for was so old it had a fermented taste. Our server clearly was miserable but did nothing outrageous. I had the fried quesadilla. It was good but not spectacular. They have olives in several dishes, which was not appealing to me for Mexican dishes.

    (2)
  • Jen S.

Terrible experience. We had a party of 5 tonight for dinner, and sent 2 entrees back with literally a single bite out of each. They would not remove from the bill so we paid for 2 inedible dinners. Highly disappointed with the entire experience and will not be returning.

More of a bar that serves food. It's a nice location, and fun atmosphere. Their tex-mex dishes are a safe bet. If you like cheese, you should have no issues with this place. It can get quite crowded on a weekend, but I didn't have too many issues waiting on drinks. The bartenders were on the ball. Since they consider the bar area "outdoors" (it's semi-enclosed) smoking is allowed. That's great news if you're a smoker, however, I am not. The man smoking a cigar next to me pretty much killed any sort of appetite that I had. In summary, decent food, decent service, nice place to grab a drink. If smoking bothers you, you may want to skip it, I will not be back.

I think this place is unjustly under rated, and I'm not sure why. I started the night with $4 Margaritas, are you freakin kidding me? In Ft Lauderdale they're $12! They tasted awesome and we're not weak by any means! I had the Chili Relleno for dinner, which is a Pepper stuffed (in this case) with pork and cheese and then wrapped in a burrito and covered with cheese...served with rice and beans..this thing was nothing short of amazing and all for $11! Then came the $5 bread pudding, which was plenty for two, light and delicious! This place albeit a bit of a party place has excellent food and service (ask for Nova). My tab for 4 margaritas, two dinners and desert was only $48 plus tip....am I in Mexico??? :)

Fantastic spot, night or day. Best breakfast in the area and late night live music gets the place rockin! 5 stars!

I had a pretty bad waitress she was slow, but a bartender took our order she was a awesome lady, I ordered the mexi burger, it's a pretty good burger. I we'll not be back any time soon

Awesome atmosphere and great food. I travel frequently to the north Ft Myers area. Can't believe I've missed this one for so long. Atmosphere and staff were great and food was fresh and some of the best tex/mex I've ever had. A must try if in the area.

    (5)
  • Tory S.

Steak and fish tacos were delicious. Service is pleasant and friendly, treat you like a local instantly. Hate smokers! Come on Florida, get with the times. Laid back atmosphere, slow to get food but worth the wait. Definitely be back.

  • Ed K.

Place seemed like it would be a great place to party as a local, just not a place to actually eat order food. My daughter and I split some fajitas, and fought for the toilet in the middle of the night. Pretty miserable.

    (1)
  • Jenna A.

I can't comment on the food because I only drank at Dean's, but I had a great time there on my last stop of a day of bar hopping. There was a pretty decent crowd for a Sunday evening, and lucky me! Dean's just so happened to have karaoke going on, so that was really fun to watch. There was one bartender who was kind of snotty and didn't want to take my drink order, but was more than willing to give attention to my male friend. Bet she felt dumb when I put MY card down to pay the tab! ;) I thought the drinks were reasonably priced and would definitely stop by again for some cocktails.

  • Daniel R.

OMG!!! If you're hungry and starving come here. I had fajitas and margaritas. Excellent. $4 margaritas.

Fun place to grab a drink while in Punta Gorda! We only had queso and chips so I really can't speak for the food but give me white queso and a margarita and I'm a happy gal!

    (3)
  • Alex L.

The person that was performing there this past Sunday could sing the girl and guy parts to all the songs! Now that's talent! However, it also got annoying pretty quick. The service was good minus requesting for no salt and still getting it. It's a dive bar with your standard bar food. We had the white queso and that was delicious. The salsa was nothing to praise about. I don't even know if it was homemade or not. Your average bar with some loud music.

    (3)
  • ReMax Kim A.

Server was horrible, seemed as if she hated her job.... It may have been because of her abnormally large fake breasts weighing her down.

  • Rachel S.

We had a really good lunch here. I had the BBQ pork sandwich, fries and cole slaw. The sandwich was excellent. My husband had the cheeseburger and it was good too. The place was busy and we got seated right away but had to wait awhile to be serve. Our waitress was excellent and we weren't in a hurry.

We go to dean's almost weekly now, even though it is almost half hour away with our kids. We have tried sometHing new almost every time. .. and every time it is absolutely delicious! They have such a large variety that we never get tired of eating there. I just wish they were clOser to where we live. It is affordable and the location near the bay is nice. We go over to the park after Dinner usually for a stroll.

More a bar than a restaurant.. tables dirty , lots of sigarette smoke , music too loud

    (2)
  • Patricia W.

Food is basically tex-mex. Lots of cheese. Breakfast is good, and they have a build-your-own bloody mary. Fun with all the add ons. Good guacamole and good chile rellenos. Smoke is sometimes an issue unless you get a table on the outside wall across from the bar. Noisy and busy.

  • Hayley H.

This place is fun to party at. Hopping on a Wednesday night. Did see a fight breakout at that magical last call hour, but cops were prompt. Townies were friendly! The food, eaten on a different night, was good. Love me some Chimichunga!! Plus watch for all you can eat tacos!

  • Vanessa S.

Do NOT go here! We went here for breakfast and waited about an hour for food that made my two small children and husband VERY sick. It was actually pretty nasty food and environment. We decided to give this place one more try after having to walk out in the past after waiting over 20 mins for anyone to Even come to our table to greet us and a time before that, finding plastic wrap in our food. Save your money and go to another place in the area. Seriously, this place is gross and service is HORRIBLE!

  • Mary R.

Stopped going to Dean's for breakfast at least 6 months ago because the service was so bad. We returned Sunday at about 9:30 am, placed our order and waited and waited. More than 30 minutes passes and the server said our food should be ready soon. Ten minutes later our food arrived. We expressed our dissatisfaction and we're told that because it was Sunday we should have arrived around 8:30 before the church crowd arrived. No customers appeared to be of the "church crowd." There seemed to be sufficient servers so obviously it was a kitchen problem. There are ample breakfast places in Punta Gorda where we will enjoy in the future. Two stars because food was good.

Were a bit skeptical of Tex Mex in these parts - especially since we hail from New Mexico, but Dean's has decent "South of the border" offerings. I had the enchilada plate - 2 enchiladas with a healthy portion of rice and beans. There are 4 sauces to choose from: I tried the Verde and the Diablo, both with cheese filling. Both sauces were good. I also ordered a side taco with ground beef filling that was excellent. Hubby had a combo plate with a bean chimi, a chili relano (yep, they spelled it wrong), and a tamale. The relano wasn't what we were used to, but was pretty good. The tamale was also really good. We couldn't finish the meals because there was so much food. Would definitely come back if out this way again.

This place is causal and fun. Not great Mexican food, I have tried several times and it's okay nothing special and once the chips where rancid and stale. The tables are flithy ...that being said They have killer margaritas and it's always a party up there at night. The openness of it makes it inviting. The staff is great.

Anytime we are hungry for a burger we go to Dean's. Easily the best burger in town, hand formed and really an 8 oz. burger. For a lunch special they always have a burger and fries. The burger is supposed to be smaller, but usually isn't or if it is by two ounces. I've had the fish sandwich special, which is a big slab of fish on a grinder (hoagie) size bun and it was pretty darn good also. Had the philly cheese steak sandwich the other day and it was very good. Can't compare it to the true Philly Cheese steaks, but it was a generous serving. For breakfast get the huevos rancheros and you won't be hungry until dinner. They always give you good portions here. They also have a nice selection of draft beer. I like eating outside, but the only problem is they allow smoking (yuk) and if someone lights up close by it is a pain. Service is always good and friendly

    (4)
  • Matt W.

Really just an outdoor bar with a roof that serves food. Good times

    (4)
  • Teri H.

Yum! Almost always sit at the bar and get great dinner service. Food is good tex mex, hot and plentiful. I love the chili relano! Can get crowded with the pick up scene but worth wading through the masses to get a bite of dinner when your wanting tex mex!

Updated review Went to Dean's again this week, this time with a group of 10! Despite it being a Friday night, we were seated almost immediately and our drink and food orders were taken promptly. I had the steak fajitas and it was very good! Of course, I did have two of the $4.00 House margaritas, so they could have influenced me! A definite improvement from last week!

I had to drench my food in habanero sauce to make it palatable...and I don't care very much for the bottled variety of habanero sauce. In fact, I usually despise the flavor of most habanero-themed foods out there. That should tell you something about the food here. I drenched my burrito in a sauce that I dislike just to eat the burrito. Enough said.

  • Brian H.

Been going to Dean's for a few years now. It's the kind of place that serves up a little bit of everything. Normally that doesn't go so well, but they actually do a pretty good job. From the cuban sandwich to the steak burrito, I have been pleased with their food. The outdoor seating is nice. Great way to eat a late lunch or dinner. The staff is always friendly and attentive. The customer mix is quite varied, from bikers to families on vacation. Everyone seems to just get along there. My only complaint is that the recently paved over the handicap parking, in what seems to be an attempt to get more access for motorcycle parking. As a disabled person, this doesn't make the trek to from the parking lot all that enjoyable.

Good .39 wings for an appetizer. Rounded out with beef tacos for me and sizzling fajitas for my wife. Both portions ample but just average in taste. Waitress was nice and the beer was cold.

My husband and I always eat at this restaurant when we are in Punta Gorda. I'm always very pleased with the food, service, and the prices. Our visit 2 nights ago wasn't so great, though. First the booth where we were seated was dirty and appeared to not have been wiped down after the prior guests. My husband and I both ordered margaritas without salt - both arrived WITH salt. I ordered a glass of water as well that never came and my husband had to ask twice to get his water. My mother in law ordered a steak burrito and the waitress brought her chiles rellenos. When the waitress realized it was the wrong meal, she actually asked my mother in law just to try it, rather than immediately bringing her the correct food. My MIL did try to eat the rellenos but it was way too spicy. The waitress did finally bring a burrito but when she brought the check, she forgot to take the rellenos off so we had to wait for another corrected check. Lame. Ultimately, the food is good and the portions are huge but the service was terrible. We probably won't be going back, which is a shame since we always loved this place.

NO chips nor salsa were placed on the table when we were greeted at what we thought was a Mexican Style restaurant. According to the server, people ate too many and Hurricane Charlie hurt business financially (2003?) if you want chips and salsa, you pay for them. Drinks were brought promptly and the food order taken and arrived in hot and presentable. Food was mediocre at best. My guest was paying the bill but was displeased enough to leave a meager tip so after he got up I went to the inner bar and asked for change for a 20. The waitress or bartender asked if we were sitting outside to which I answered yes. She told me to go to the outside bar for change. I told her well your waitress won't be happy but she seemed not to care. I got PO'd and the waitress probably was too. To our waitress,Go ask the inside bartender for an apology! Note to Kitchen, Adjust your rinse temps or update chemical output on your dishwasher to eliminate spot marks on silverware.

  • Ellen S.

Sucks. Probably ok if you don't want to eat. Waited 20 minutes to place an order. Waitress wrote it on a napkin. An hour and 10 minutes later we left with no food.

LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT. I am a huge Mexican food fan and you cannot get any better in SW Fla than Deans! Fajita's are awesome. Great atmosphere and great prices. Only thing I could add is they need to supply chips n salsa. This food is authentic and you won't be sorry!

I left a review on Google. Went to see Zombie University, thought this would be a cool place. Boy was I and my husband wrong! This place is horrible, nasty mixed drinks, worse pina colada I have ever had in my life! My husband had the drink special which he quoted as tasting like, " Flat RC Cola and watered down cheap ass boubon.". He was nauseated after we left and only one drink. The old skinny bartender was a total snuff! So rude! Never will we go to this place again. We have already told everyone we know. They said they have had similar situations including heartless waitresses and even worse drinks. Stay far away from this place. Go somewhere good like Harpoon Harrys or Chubbyz in Port Charlotte.

BUZZTIME! I love this trivia game and Dean's has it! I was so happy to see the controllers sitting on the counter but it took until our 3rd visit for me to get my hands on one and play. I fondly remember playing this several years ago, a couple of nights a week with former coworkers at a bar near work. They offered $1 Budweisers for happy hours so we'd go blow a few bucks to blow off some steam. But that's beside the point...back to Dean's. I applaud them for describing themselves Tex-Mex because it's not real Mexican food. But whatever you want to call it, it's decent. Their food is solid and the drinks are strong. Order a shot of tequila and I swear it's more like a shot and a half. While the food is good, I haven't had anything that really stands out. However, if you like nachos, they'll do you right. TONS of cheese melted over a mound of chips. Then get whatever you want on top. Get some jalapenos on them and maybe some meat. Add sour cream and guacamole and you've got a winner! I don't know what people are talking about on service. We've always been well attended to and one night they even went out of their way to get us a sample of the chorizo before we decided to order chorizo tacos. In summation...I can't rave, but I can't rant either. Dean's has good food, better drinks and trivia games!

  • Kristine R.

I've come here for years and am so disappointed in the direction it's going. First red flag of the night was when the table next to us got their bill and stated they would never be back. We ordered pico and a tamale for an appetizer. 45 minutes later, without our tamale, I called the waitress to ask where it was. She responded that she had put it in with the entrees not as an appetizer and I should have told her otherwise. Excuse me... I SHOULD HAVE TOLD YOU? Its listed in the APPETIZER section. Ten minutes after that we still didn't have our food. I would be patient since it was a busy night, but a check in from the waitress would have been nice. Instead of checking on us they preferred to stand by the bar and talk. Needless to say after an hour of waiting for our food we left hungry and with a bad taste in our mouth. Ended up at table 209 which is NEVER a disappointment even if it was just for appetizers.

First of all, some of the business info is incorrect. I've submitted the changed to Yelp. Their address is 130 Tamiami Trail and the place is now called Dean's South of the Border Tex-Mex and Open Air Lounge. Anyways, I went here last night and had a blast! They had live music, some kareokee, and dancing. We sat outside and the weather was phenominal. The service was prompt and attentive the whole night. I ordered the chips and cheese dip to start. Awesome! Then I had the ribs. They were great. Tender, fall off the bone, and tasty. I wanted to try the chocolate dessert chimi, but they were out. That is my only gripe. Oh well, maybe next time. My co-worker had a burrito and a nacho dish. he said it was awesome too!

Absolutly love, love love this place. Great food. I have been eating here since I was a kid and used to go in that area to see my Dad every other weekend. We ate there everytime! Now every time I am in the area, if possible, I stop in for a meal. This place is great.

Place seemed like it would be a great place to party as a local, just not a place to actually eat order food. My daughter and I split some fajitas, and fought for the toilet in the middle of the night. Pretty miserable.

Fun place to grab a drink while in Punta Gorda! We only had queso and chips so I really can't speak for the food but give me white queso and a margarita and I'm a happy gal!

Server was horrible, seemed as if she hated her job.... It may have been because of her abnormally large fake breasts weighing her down.

This place is fun to party at. Hopping on a Wednesday night. Did see a fight breakout at that magical last call hour, but cops were prompt. Townies were friendly! The food, eaten on a different night, was good. Love me some Chimichunga!! Plus watch for all you can eat tacos!

Food was ok, nothing special. Aside from the rude hostess everyone else was friendly. Chips and salsa aren't free and aren't that great. My husband enjoyed his prime rib sandwich.

We like Dean's. Food is consistent and wait staff is very friendly. Dinner tonight was 1 draft beer, chop steak and a couple of tacos for $17. Such a deal! We like sitting outside but it does run along 41 so it can be a bit noisy.

We had lunch there today and really enjoyed it. Good $4 house margaritas and "mini" taco salad for $6.25. The service by Nikki was very good. The only downside was cigarette smoke as mentioned by others.

Awesome atmosphere and great food. I travel frequently to the north Ft Myers area. Can't believe I've missed this one for so long. Atmosphere and staff were great and food was fresh and some of the best tex/mex I've ever had. A must try if in the area.

Yum! Almost always sit at the bar and get great dinner service. Food is good tex mex, hot and plentiful. I love the chili relano! Can get crowded with the pick up scene but worth wading through the masses to get a bite of dinner when your wanting tex mex!

Sucks. Probably ok if you don't want to eat. Waited 20 minutes to place an order. Waitress wrote it on a napkin. An hour and 10 minutes later we left with no food.

This place is causal and fun. Not great Mexican food, I have tried several times and it's okay nothing special and once the chips where rancid and stale. The tables are flithy ...that being said They have killer margaritas and it's always a party up there at night. The openness of it makes it inviting. The staff is great.

This place has come a long way! I remember going to their old building when I was younger. I didn't care for the atmosphere because it always seemed so dark. After Hurricane Charley ripped through the town, they were able to take advantage of a new building. I LOVE going here now! Their outdoor seating is a nice area to enjoy a Carona and a plate of the personal size nachos, which is enough to fill you up. Parking is eh, but with the new hotel open, it seems like parking will only get better. I would definitely recommend they do something about the dumpster smell that you encounter when walking from the parking area to the restaurant, Overall, a good place to relax and enjoy some Mexican food near Charlotte Harbor! PS They cater too! (And not just Mexican food, all kinds of good stuff.)

  • Mike O.

I ordered the tamales and an ice cold Corona. Thank God the beer was cold because the food tasted like a microwaved frozen dinner at best! The tortilla tops were hard and rubbery like they had been made and sitting a long time and then nuked way to long to reheat. The pork filling had very little seasoning but the red sauce seemed to help in the heat and flavor department. If not for the great company I was with and the ice cold Corona's arriving frequently I probably would have have sent them back and ordered something else off the menu. My date for the evening ordered the southwest egg rolls which were a little tastier than my entree and fortunately she didn't mind sharing. Other guests we were with seemed to enjoy there salads and fajitas. The patio bar with live music provided a great atmosphere to enjoy cold beer on a hot and humid summer night. The servers did a good job managing the Friday night crowd. Would I return? Probably for the cold beer and music but would avoid ordering anything off the menu...

Not bad, but not anything above and beyond the ordinary. Decent food, large portions, and a neat atmosphere since the building was re-built after the hurricanes. It's a bit of a local legend. My only real gripe is that the service is lacking.

Fun place for a Friday night. Outdoor seating on a really cool patio (if you like sitting with smokers - ack!). They support local musicians and there are live bands or karaoke nearly every night. The inside seating provides a nice break from the heat, but I agree with another reviewer about the tables being dirty. Same for the serviceware. Cracked tumblers and chipped plates should be anticipated. The food is mostly mediocre, but I find the fajitas to be a great choice. The portions are enormous. I thought my teen and her friend would go hungry when they ordered a half-batch of nachos, but they ended up with a doggie bag! The waitresses are rowdy and rough around the edges. Speed is not their specialty. There is only a single ladies' bathroom, so having a pre-schooler with a weak bladder has been problematic at Dean's, as there is always a line for the bathroom. Parking is always hard to find, too. The prices are reasonable, and they have margaritas by the pitcher, so I'm still a fan.

I ordered the tamales and an ice cold Corona. Thank God the beer was cold because the food tasted like a microwaved frozen dinner at best! The pork filling had very little seasoning but the red sauce seemed to help in the heat and flavor department. Not bad, but not anything above and beyond the ordinary. Decent food, large portions, and a neat atmosphere since the building was re-built after the hurricanes. It's a bit of a local legend. My only real gripe is that the service is lacking.

Really just an outdoor bar with a roof that serves food. Good times

Yum! Almost always sit at the bar and get great dinner service. Food is good tex mex, hot and plentiful. I love the chili relano! Can get crowded with the pick up scene but worth wading through the masses to get a bite of dinner when your wanting tex mex!

We like Dean's. Food is consistent and wait staff is very friendly. Dinner tonight was 1 draft beer, chop steak and a couple of tacos for $17. Such a deal! We like sitting outside but it does run along 41 so it can be a bit noisy.

    (1)

Yes, I'm a fan and the food is good. However, after we ate - we went to the bar and I caught the bartender picking her nose... Gross! Check out the pic!

This place is causal and fun. Not great Mexican food, I have tried several times and it's okay nothing special and once the chips where rancid and stale. The tables are flithy ...that being said They have killer margaritas and it's always a party up there at night. The openness of it makes it inviting. The staff is great.

Absolutly love, love love this place. Great food. I have been eating here since I was a kid and used to go in that area to see my Dad every other weekend. We ate there everytime! Now every time I am in the area, if possible, I stop in for a meal. This place is great.

Can't miss with the lunch specials. Good food, fast service, great value. Recommend the chimichanga. On hot days go on inside and enjoy the ac and skip the flys and road noise.

Tacos are EHHH , chimichangas taste like NADA , server in the twilight zone NOT PAYING ATTENTION, prices are ok and the place looks great. Nice music. Great nachos. Cold beer. Food... Got chorizo tacos. Told it was chorizo sausage. Nope. I got three tacos with about two tablespoons of chorizo seasoning per taco. Salty as heck. Not palatable. Third and final try.

Elaine

KQ

    (5)
  • Rachel K.

Service is the main problem here. Food is cheap and beer is generally cold if you can get someone to serve you. Wait staff more interested in personal conversations than waiting on customers. Not only that they are sitting clanging silverware at the bar, very loud and annoying.

    (2)
  • Robert G.

We had lunch there today and really enjoyed it. Good $4 house margaritas and "mini" taco salad for $6.25. The service by Nikki was very good. The only downside was cigarette smoke as mentioned by others.

    (4)

We had a really good lunch here. I had the BBQ pork sandwich, fries and cole slaw. The sandwich was excellent. My husband had the cheeseburger and it was good too.

OMG!!! If you're hungry and starving come here. I had fajitas and margaritas. Excellent. $4 margaritas.

This place is fun to party at. Hopping on a Wednesday night. Did see a fight breakout at that magical last call hour, but cops were prompt. Townies were friendly! The food, eaten on a different night, was good. Love me some Chimichunga!! Plus watch for all you can eat tacos!
